How best can the evening be spent after weeks of preparation for an international exhibition such as the Counter Terror Expo 2011; how best can the evening be spent after a very hectic day attending to a myriad of customers /prospective customers and visitors alike who had thronged one’s stand at Olympia Conference Centre in London, venue of the exhibition, making one enquiry after another? To of course, royally relax and network in the exotic environment of the Royal Garden Hotel in Central London to be treated and attended to like a king and a queen, while royally sipping champagne with live music at the background inducing occasional feet tapping, head nodding by the guests, transporting you down memory lane, and at once, you were ushered into the banquet hall with waiters on hand dutifully and courteously giving you unforgettable service of four course meal, then a magician moving from table to table to wao guests with a variety of abracadabra or should we say trickery?
And thereafter, ace writer and broadcaster, Margaret Gilmore ascending the stage as the Master of Ceremonies to thrill the audience with her light-hearted rib-cracking jokes. Call it Gilmorian jokes or comedy if you like and you will yet be right; followed by a short speech from her on the pivotal role of the private security sector in ensuring the safety and security of Britain and then cometh the hour for the real reason for the august gathering at Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington in Central London:
Soon awardees in the various categories were called upstage to receive their awards announced by the sponsoring organisations with enthusiastic claps from appreciative guests followed by occasional and excited whistling from the audience which punctuated the air as the dazzling flashes of photographs like lightning tore through the air and then the group photographs which ended the night, but does the night ever end?
Okay, let’s say the event of the night came to a close with one guest bidding the other good bye. That was Tuesday night of the season, April 19th when the defence and security community reached the sky, the kingdom of the gods, and brought down 12 ‘stars’ into the Counter Terrorism and Specialist Security Awards’ Hall of Fame.
Commenting afterward on the Awards Norman Bamford, Managing Director of BDEC Limited, organisers of the Awards, enthused:“We are delighted with the success of the evening. These awards recognise excellence in the industry and we are proud to be able to acknowledge the diligent work carried out in all sectors.
