During a visit to Paris on Tuesday (21 June 2022), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed preparations for next week’s Madrid Summit with President Emmanuel Macron.

Mr Stoltenberg and Mr Macron stressed the importance of NATO’s next Strategic Concept, which will be adopted by leaders in Madrid and will drive the Alliance’s future adaptation. At the Summit, which will take place from 28-30 June, Allied leaders will also take decisions to further bolster NATO deterrence and defence and support Ukraine for the longer term. Leaders are also set to discuss Finland and Sweden’s historic applications for NATO membership, and will meet with other close partners, including Ukraine, Georgia, and the European Union.

On Tuesday 14 June 2022, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) prosecuted a Belfast man at Laganside Magistrates' Court for providing false information and failing to comply with the Private Security Industry Act.
Tomas Tolan of Belfast pleaded guilty after previously pleading not guilty. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge, ordered to pay court costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £42.
