Origin Storage, a leading manufacturer and distributor of IT storage solutions, yesterday confirmed its release of Data Locker 3. First launched in 2009, the Data Locker Secure Drive continues to give users peace of mind in the unfortunate event that their data storage device is lost or stolen. The information stored on the unit – which will be demonstrated at Infosecurity Europe from 19th – 21st April 2010 at Earls Court, London (Stand F83) - is secured by a 6-32 digit alpha numeric PIN number that is entered directly on the device itself.
DataLocker provides high-capacity, secure portable storage for public and private sector users who collect, store, transfer, share and disseminate sensitive information. This latest version of Data Locker, continues to contain all the features of previous releases with the addition of:-
- A USB 3.0 interface which will increase its speed
- 32 digit user defined alpha numeric pin code
- Pre set admin code
- 100% platform independent, so will work with any operating system, Mac, Windows, Linux etc.
- Utilises latest 256bit AES XTS Mode hardware encryption
- Dual factor authentication utilising RFID technology will strengthen the devices security
- High capacity storage - up to 1 TB
- Multi-lingual user interface
- TAA Compliant
As well as increased speed, strength and capacity, there are also a number of cosmetic enhancements such as a backlit screen and improvements to the touch screen and its resolution.
Andy Cordial, MD of Origin Storage said: “Datalocker is a hugely popular solution and this latest version further enhances what is already a compelling offering. The headlines have once again been filled with a number of high profile breaches so, whilst organisations are investing thousands in solving this problem, more still can and needs to be done. Encryption is your first and last line of defence – it prevents people accessing confidential information in the first place, and protects it should the device it’s contained in be lost or stolen. While belt and braces may not be fashionable, it prevents future embarrassment and huge fines!”
This announcement follows the news that Data Locker Inc. received FIPS 140-2 validation certificate #1504 for the Data Locker Enterprise v2.0 encrypted portable hard drive. Issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 validation program ensures that cryptographic modules meet all government and military standards for data encryption
