Vigilance can report that Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded five stars in a recent audit undertaken by the British Safety Council on its Industrial Services work, making it the only company in the industrial market segment to have achieved a five star rating across its entire suite of industrial services, with an overall score of 99.48 per cent.
Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit 2013, the internationally recognised British Safety Council Five Star Audit is a comprehensive, independent and quantified evaluation of an organisation's entire health and safety management system, and is used by companies world-wide to benchmark their systems against health and safety best practice.
A source at BSC says the audit measures performance against key safety management indicators, identifies areas of best practice and areas for improvement and provides a structured approach to continuous improvement, resulting in an overall numerical score of one to five representing the effectiveness of the organisation's health and safety programs.
In 2013 the audit increased its focus on safety culture, leadership and employee well-being.
Guy Bruce, Managing Director, Industrial at Interserve said: "Providing safe environments for colleagues, customers and visitors across all of our sites is of the highest importance to Interserve. The outcome of this audit once again demonstrates our commitment to having a strong and robust safety management system at the heart of our business, and is testament to our ongoing dedication to building and enhancing our safety culture throughout the business."
