UK: Vigilance can report that Panasonic’s Professional Camera Solutions, the WV-SP509 continued its streak as an award winning security camera on Thursday the 8th November at the Computing Security Awards.
Computing Security is the sister publication of Network Computing and deals with the key issues that organisations face as they try to maintain secure networks in the face of new and old threats by educating and guiding those responsible for security. In this way organisations can better understand their vulnerabilities and the possible equipment, staff and corporate policies available to improve security.
Now in their third year, the Computing Security Awards were set up by Computing Security Magazine to recognise the very best in IT Security. This year the presentation ceremony took place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London and the awards were presented by Comedian and Actor, Jim Tavare and Event Manager, Dave Bonner. The evening took the time to recognise a combination of products and services as well as impressive work which has been carried out.
Winners of the "Editors Choice" award and "Security Project of the Year" award were decided by a judge, Brian Wall, the Editor of Computing Security magazine. Finalists and ultimately winners of all of the other awards however were determined by an on-line nominating and on-line voting process. For the most part these votes were made by the readers of Computing Security magazine; individuals who buy, specify and use security solutions in their working lives.
For the first time in the history of this Award, the category "Physical Security Solution of the Year" was included which recognised those devices which protect organisations from human intrusion including eye recognition machines, door entry systems and surveillance cameras. The winner of this category was the WV-SP509; the newest camera within Panasonic’s WVSP500/WV-SW500 series. It possesses a host of smart features, full ratification from ONVIF and the reduced network and storage costs provided by full-HD.
The addition of the ‘Physical Security Solution of the Year’ Award to the previous recognition of the WV-SP509 since its launch; including the Secutech award and its performance in the Milestone shootout test, demonstrates that this camera promises installers and end users some of the most advanced features and best return on investment available in the security technology market today.
