Catherine Bowen
Catherine Bowen has been appointed as Policy & Stakeholder Director for the retail strand of the National Business Crime Solution.
Catherine will be responsible for raising the profile of the National Business Crime Solution with key retail stakeholders across the law enforcement community, as well as highlighting the benefits of membership to the wider business community.
The National Business Crime Solution (NBCS) helps businesses tackle crime through centralised and collective data sharing. Employing police analysts, using the wealth of intelligence including CCTV and ANPR held by businesses, and linking with law enforcement agencies such as GAIN (Government Agency Intelligence Network), a direct feed of business intelligence is fed to the police via the National Business Crime Intelligence Bureau – the solution’s integral intelligence ‘HUB’ - building water-tight, cross-border cases that can be presented to the Police and result in action.
Members of the NBCS can rely on an evidence-based approach being taken, pinpointing the nature and scale of the threats they face. The ‘HUB’ enables the collection and analysis of data across sectors and geographical boundaries in order for prolific, persistent and travelling offenders to be targeted more effectively.
With a background in law enforcement and having spent the last six years working at the British Retail Consortium as Crime Policy Advisor, Catherine has worked with a range of retail outlets, from small independent stores to large multiples. Drawing on business crime issues raised by these retailers, she has petitioned the Government and the senior law enforcement community to establish a strategy for tackling business crime.
Drawing on her extensive retail crime knowledge and dealings with The Home Office, Catherine will bring a wealth of experience to her new position at the NBCS.
Catherine said: “The National Business Crime Solution is the most effective option for businesses wanting to take measures against retail crime. I have built my career around advising on business crime and I look forward to helping expand the reach of the NBCS with the ultimate objective of driving down business crime.’
