Milipol Qatar 2016 welcomed the UK delegation to the Doha on Monday October 31.
Led by Mr. Conrad Prince, UK Cyber Ambassador, Mr. Richard Freeman, Senior Police Adviser and Security Adviser in the Department of International Trade’s Defence and Security Organisation, Mr. Nigel Ellis and the UK representatives hosted a press conference during which they talked about the importance of Milipol Qatar as one of the best fairs in the region.
Strategic partnership, innovation, and technology cooperation are the main areas of focus as UK security companies returned to Milipol Qatar 2016 to showcase world leading capabilities in the law enforcement and security sectors, including cyber security solutions. This significant presence reflects the ongoing strong commitment between the UK and their security and cyber sector counterparts in Qatar.
UK companies are looking to enhance opportunities in Qatar via industrial partnerships and long term joint ventures. Experience in managing large sporting events following the success of the recent Rugby World Cup, Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, UK representatives are keen to share their experience. In addition, they also have extensive knowledge of cyber security and look to work closely with Qatar in this important and growing sector.
Freeman said: “Qatar is an important strategic partner and we are continuing to deepen and strengthen our security relationships including the cyber sector where the UK has gained extensive experience and knowledge over the last five years. We welcome every opportunity to discuss shared challenges and issues faced by both our police forces and security agencies. I am very keen that UK companies look for industrial partnerships in Qatar and the region so that we can continue to share knowledge, understanding and technology that can continue to strengthen our ties. The United Kingdom has a strong track record in organising major sporting events and we will continue to work with Qatar as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup and develop national security capabilities to support the wider 2030 vision.”
He also thanked the organizing committee of Milipol Qatar 2016, adding that the United Kingdom is always keen to participate in the event, and this year it was represented by the UK pavilion consisting of 14 different companies.
