Vigilance can report that Dundee United has appointed SecuriGroup as their new matchday steward security provider, in time for the 2013-2014 season.
A spokesman for the company said SecuriGroup had long-established ties with the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League, having provided security to the professional game in Scotland for almost a decade, most of which he said had been in the top flight.
SecuriGroup he revealed would be looking to bring this experience and expertise, which also includes Champions League, UEFA Cup, Europa League and Olympic football to matchday security at Tannadice Park.
Dundee United Director Derek Robertson said: “We’re delighted to make this announcement which follows an extensive tendering exercise at the end of last season. During this exercise we were impressed with the professionalism shown by SecuriGroup and their willingness to adopt a flexible and customer focused approach to improving the match day experience at Tannadice.”
Over the past few years, SecuriGroup has been at the forefront of trialling new approaches to football security and pioneered the first police-free football of a top flight game in Scotland in 2011. SecuriGroup has continued to supply more of these non-policed games and remains the only security company in Scotland to offer this service in domestic football.
SecuriGroup Operations Director and former Assistant Chief Constable, Allan Burnett QPM enthused: “We’re looking forward to working with Dundee United and Police Scotland to find ways of improving the match experience of all fans visiting Tannadice. Over the next few months we will be collaborating with management and meeting with supporter’s representatives to ensure a successful stewarding programme for the coming season.”
