State-of-the-art helicopter offers the ultimate in transport security management
The DraganFlyer X8, a unique state-of-the-art piece of UAV technology featuring eight efficient high power-electric motors was launched last week at the just-concluded TranSec Expo 2010 held on the 14th and 15th of September at the London Olympia to allow transport security executives to better protect, monitor and manage their infrastructure.
Vigilance learnt that the unparalleled design of the DraganFlyer X8 helicopter utilises eight main brushless rotor blades, powered by eight efficient low-noise electric motors, which allow the X8 to carry a variety of digital SLR cameras and 1080p video cameras to a payload of up to 1KG. This offers the heaviest payload capability of any Draganfly model and means that the X8 can capture a wide variety of data such as thermal images and SLR quality photography and video.
The DraganFlyer X8 it is said achieves stability using an onboard processor running custom designed Draganfly software and receives data from 11 onboard sensors composed of; three gyros, three accelerometers, three magnetometers, one barometric sensor and one GPS receiver.
Vigilance also gathered that if a user needs to achieve and maintain an exact altitude the GPS hold position technology will ensure the DraganFlyer maintains an exact GPS location. All video and pictures are instantly available via the DraganEye camera goggles and a laptop link-up to ensure the correct shot is achieved. This also allows live streaming to the web.
Offering more safety features than ever, the DraganFlyer X8 is a durable and highly reliable aerial video and photography platform. If one of the motors stops working during flight, the helicopter is still able to continue flying by using the remaining seven motors.
David Cooper, managing director of Air 2Air said, “The DraganFlyer X8 has a broad range or uses for transport security managers such as premise surveillance, security tracking and monitoring. The Draganfly saves time, money and can be used in potentially dangerous situations without risking highly trained personnel.”
The entire system, built with a rugged carbon fibre frame, is contained in one carry case that allows for easy transportation and fast deployment, and an optional military grade detachable load bearing system is available for the Draganflyer X8. Using a specially designed Fastex clip system, the load bearing system clips onto the carry case in seconds.
