Hygie-Tech www.hygie-tech.ch, a leading Computational Fluid Dynamics (“CFD”) software company today announces that it has created a new software HG_Flow.GMesh to use with its 3D laser scanners.
The new algorithm was developed by the Hygie-Tech team and enables computers to rapidly provide a structured mesh generation which is compatible with the company’s CFD software, HG_Flow. HG_Flow.GMesh allows users to process the vast amount of data generated by a 3D laser scan on a desktop computer. This is yet another step that Hygie-Tech has taken to make CFD accessible for all users, not only mathematicians.
HG_Flow software is applied for a range of industrial purposes internationally, from surgical operating rooms to vehicle design and manufacturing. With the ability to provide accurate detail down to the scale of one millimetre, this product is used by the defence and security sectors to formulate contingency plans for possible chemical and biological attacks on buildings that might be targeted by terrorists.
Philippe Le Goff, Hygie-Tech’s Chief Scientific Officer commented:
“The need for this software arose from a problem submitted by one of our clients, for whom we had to deal with a very large plant containing many elements. We had to visualize airflows as well as gas flows and each image created by the laser scanner contained around a billion points. It was impossible to process these images with the laser scanner’s own software.
“With GMesh, we can directly use huge clouds of up to a billion points and optimize the envelope meshing for direct CFD use, greatly extending the capability of HG_Flow software.”
