Changing User Expectations Pose Problems to Networks' Delivery of Consistent Service Quality and Ability to Meet Business Requirements

Basingstoke: A survey of more than 400 small, mid and large-sized enterprises has highlighted a fast-growing discrepancy between the capabilities of their network infrastructures and what network administrators need to do their jobs effectively. Approximately 52 percent admitted that managing application performance, availability and security is a significant problem due to a “disjointed, complex and hard-to-manage” environment.

Hackers broke into The Washington Post’s servers earlier this week and gained access to employee usernames and passwords. The employee passwords were stored in encrypted form, so it’s unclear whether they were exposed. However, the hackers may have tools to decode this information. According to Washington Post officials, there is no evidence that subscriber information, customer credit cards, or home addresses were accessed. At this point, there are no signs that the hackers had gained access to The Post’s publishing system, e-mails systems, or employee computers.

The crew of a Royal Navy ship has celebrated Christmas on the ice caps of Antarctica, Vigilance can report.

According to a source at the MoD HMS Protector is currently deployed to the Antarctic to carry out survey and patrol operations. As the ship will be at sea on Christmas Day, the crew decided to hold their festive celebrations early.
