MOST IT SECURITY PROFESSIONALS “NOT SURPRISED” THAT END USERS CAN ACCESS MORE COMPANY DATA THAN THEY NEED

London (UK): Research conducted by Varonis Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRNS), the leading provider of software solutions for unstructured, human-generated enterprise data, found that over 50% of IT security professionals are not surprised that end users have access to more company data than they should have.

The survey, undertaken recently at the largest security conferences in Europe and the U.S., Infosecurity Europe in London and RSA Conference in San Francisco, followed a Ponemon Institute study that revealed 71% of end users say they have access to company data that they should not see. In the more recent survey, 17% of respondents said they believe the true number is actually higher.

tyntec research finds the use of personal mobile devices for work is the new norm

...But 74% Of US Workers Prefer Separate Phone Numbers For Work And Personal Use

Munich, San Francisco: tyntec has issued the results of its international BYOD User Survey 2015 “Employees’ Choice for Mobility.” The findings, based on responses from Spain, the UK and US, reveal sluggish adoption of BYOD policies by organizations, while its employees voice strong privacy concerns and preference on device usage. The UK showed the smallest percentage of BYOD governance with a mere 18% of respondents claiming to have awareness of a formal policy in place. For those employees using a mobile phone for work purposes, the majority of respondents indicated a preference for separate phone numbers for work and personal usage, with Spain showing the strongest preference at 91%. Privacy and reimbursement were cited as major concerns for employees using their personal phone for work.
