The Office of Personnel Management officially notifies potential breach victims

Brian Krebs has reported that the Office of Personnel Management has sent out more than 17 million letters to victims of the second massive data breach. OPM officially opened the verification centre on 1st December, specifically for those former and current federal employees and their families who haven’t received letters, but think they may have been impacted, and for those people who have received letters but their personal identification number (PIN) isn’t working or has been lost.

UK information security professionals identify mobile devices and cloud as common areas of weakness across seven key industry verticals

LONDON: Tenable Network Security, Inc. has disclosed that the UK received a ‘C’ overall grade for its 2016 Global Cybersecurity Assurance Report Card. Information security practitioners from the UK were asked about confidence in their respective organizations’ abilities to assess risk, invest in appropriate tools and successfully respond to cyber threats, scoring 73% overall—an underachieving “C.”

Anam Technologies endorsed as inventor of SMS Home Routing

Dublin: The Appeals Board of the European Patent Office (EPO) last week dismissed an Appeal in Opposition proceedings which sought to revoke Anam’s patent (EP 1683375 B1) on SMS Home Routing. The decision conclusively held that Anam’s patent for an SMS routing system that allows Mobile Network Operators to offer SMS value added services, was both novel and inventive. The decision by the EPO Appeals Board in Munich brings seven years of opposition proceedings to conclusion.
