New specification for intelligent clothing is published

BSI, the business standards company, has published PAS 10412, Intelligent clothing – LED active high visibility clothing – Specification, sponsored by the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI).

When workers operate in areas where there is no light they must be visible to each other and their environment. In the absence of light, high visibility clothing may not be seen, or available light may not be sufficient to reflect or charge the luminescent parts of the clothing. In this instance the use of active lighting such as LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology is essential, however currently there is no existing specification to standardize the quality of LED technology that is used in conjunction with high visibility workwear.

Data theft concerns spur mobile ID market...generating an additional $700m for mobile operators

Hampshire, UK: A new study from Juniper Research claims that Mobile Network Operators will generate an additional $700m annually by 2020 from new universal log-in and mobile identity services - from a base of just $20 million this year.

The new research - Mobile Identity, Authentication & Tokenisation 2015-2020, found that as online engagement has soared, the limitations of a password-based approach are being increasingly exposed. With consumers using the same password for multiple sites, and the scale of data theft has risen dramatically.

More Than 80% of Mobile Apps Have Encryption Flaws

More than 80 percent of mobile devices have encryption flaws, while an application written in any of a trio of scripting languages—including PHP, ColdFusion and Classic ASP—are more likely to have serious flaws.

Developers have botched encryption in seven out of eight Android apps and 80 percent of iOS apps, according to Veracode's State of Software Security report.
