QA warns on over-reliance on technology by UK firms on World Backup Day

“True data protection, and true data security, starts with training your people” says QA Technical Director

Many backup vendors have been touting their wares ahead of World Backup Day (March 31, 2016). In response, the UK’s largest training provider, QA, is warning firms not to try and solve the problem by simply buying more technology. Instead, QA is counselling a more holistic approach to backup and data protection – one that gives training and education of staff equal billing to technology investment.

£372 MILLION INVESTMENT FOR HAWK SUPPORT SUSTAINS 700 UK JOBS

The Ministry of Defence has committed £372 million across four contracts for the continued in-service support of Hawk fast jet training aircraft, securing around 700 UK jobs until 2020.

The fleet of Hawk TMk1 and TMk2 aircraft are used by the UK armed forces for military flying training prior to conversion onto frontline fast jet aircraft, such as Typhoon or the future F35 Lightning II, and for a variety of other Royal Navy and Royal Air Force training requirements. They are also the aircraft of choice by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows - one of the world's premier aerobatic display teams.

Veteran taking on the Marathon des Sables TWICE for charity

Former soldier Gavin Sandford, 43, will taking on one of the world’s toughest challenges, the Marathon des Sables, next month for three charities – Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Team Margot. In an unusual twist, Gavin will be meeting those starting the race having already run the 2015 route from the finish line back to the start.
