Following the result of the EU referendum this morning, Aftab Afzal, SVP & GM EMEA at NSFOCUS IB reacts: "Brexit will have impact on the industry as a whole. However it is too early to speculate on this being positive or negative. The coming weeks and months will be a telling time. Cyber security is a global challenge and not EU specific. With the vote being so close, the unrest will translate into some increased cyber attacks and organisations at the forefront should take extra caution. As many cyber security vendors report dollar revenues, currency market volatility could see some prices increased.

High-severity bugs in 25 Symantec/Norton products imperils millions - expert comments

Researchers are warning that much of the product line from security firm Symantec contains multiple vulnerabilities that expose millions of consumers, as well as small and large businesses, to self-replicating attacks that take complete control of their computers. Tavis Ormandy, a researcher with Google's Project Zero, has warned that the vulnerability is unusually easy to exploit, and allows the exploits to spread virtually from machine to machine over a targeted network.

79 percent of businesses see value in outside security expertise

LONDON, UK: Alert Logic has announced the findings of a Forrester Consulting study that details the struggles that security teams face to adequately secure applications running on cloud computing platforms. The study, based on a survey of 100 IT professionals responsible for cloud security infrastructure in the U.K. and U.S., finds that businesses are often challenged to recruit the staff and secure the financial and technical resources required to support an in-house Security Operations Centre (SOC).
