LONDON, UK: The security and privacy advice comparison website Comparitech.com is encouraging people that feel helpless in the wake of the Investigatory Powers Act to make their privacy concerns heard this Data Privacy Day on the 28th of January. The Act is supposed to protect national security; however, recent FOI requests reveal that it has been used to secretly spy on UK residents as reported in the Guardian bringing into question its abuse.

On Tuesday 17th January to Thursday 19th January, Europol hosted its first international conference on jewellery robbery and burglary, titled ‘Project Diamond’. SaferGems, a joint initiative established by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), T.H. March Insurance Brokers and the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ), were invited to deliver a presentation at the event, which took place at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague, Denmark.
