Expert Comments: Massive Joblink breach...job seekers' info breached - 10 states

The third party vendor, America’s Joblink Alliance, which operates the Joblink nationwide database has notified several states that the job seeker service had been compromised by malicious software. The personal information of job seekers in ten states including Vermont, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maine and Oklahoma may be compromised. While the full scope of the breach is not yet known, the AP says it's unknown whether social security numbers were breached, and that officials advise all system users to review bank, credit and debit accounts.

Research assesses the skills gap in information security

LONDON, UK: FireMon has announced results from a survey conducted at the recent RSA Conference that gauged the attitudes of 350 IT security professionals towards the skills shortage in cybersecurity. It found that a remarkably high 93% of respondents place more importance on experience rather than qualifications when it comes to hiring. A further 73% claimed that it didn’t matter whether IT staff were college graduates when it came to getting the job done.

Electrical Industries Charity to benefit from prize draw at upcoming ECA Gala Dinner

Thousands of pounds are set to be raised for good causes in the electrotechnical industry at the upcoming ECA Gala Dinner and Annual Awards, which is being held in London this June.

During both the 2015 and 2016 events, almost £4,000 was raised for the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) due to the generosity of many ECA members and associates, and other leading figures within the industry. EIC will again be the main beneficiaries of this year’s prize draw.
