Early this morning guns were heard a short distance away in my neighborhood. Quite surprised and worried of course. Perhaps no one prepared for a move in the neighborhood, as I understand that our military and police officers put their lives on the line for us every single day. However, I am still wondering on a vast continent of more than 700 million people, where warfare still rages unchecked, and far too little is being done about it. - Civil wars in South Sudan, Central African Republic, Boko Haram’s insurgency in Nigeria and around the Lack Chad region, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) are the recent examples of deadly conflicts that have killed and displaced millions of African men, women and children.
