Cybersecurity research report reveals a sense of déjà vu - Secureworks

Secureworks has announced its ‘Incident Response Insights Report 2019’ which provides a unique view into how and why organisations face cyber security attacks.

Why is this interesting?

Secureworks examined the most commonly observed attack vectors used by adversaries in 2018 to understand why they’re having success and what organisations can do about it. Interestingly, the team observed that businesses are making the same mistakes year on year and as a result threat actors are sticking with the same methods as they know it works. The research also showed that the majority of attacks are financially motivated, whereas conversely only 7% of those monitored where government sponsored.

Magenta Security expresses disappointment in recent SIA decision over ACS

Abbey Petkar, managing director of Magenta Security has expressed deep concerns and disappointment in recent decisions by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

“As children so many of us will have heard teachers say – I am not angry with you… I am disappointed. My feelings for the SIA are no different.

“Some months ago, I was excited and looking forward to impending improvements to the ACS. They were going to make us more professional as an industry; develop greater trust with customers and communities; cowboy firms would struggle to operate and all staff would be treated fairly by responsible employers.

SIA partners with HMRC to identify illegal working practices and tax fraud in the private security industry

Between the 10 to 12 July, The Security Industry Authority and HMRC carried out joint operations in London, Cardiff and Newcastle to identify illegal working practices and tax fraud in the private security industry.

Teams attended 65 venues and spoke to over a hundred security operatives to check that they were legitimately employed, that all taxes were being paid, and to ensure they were not victims of any labour abuse.
