Brigg company fined for supplying illegal security to a Bradford nightclub

On Tuesday 06 July a Brigg-based security company and its manager pleaded guilty at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court to supplying unlicensed security to a Bradford nightclub.

The court fined Liberty Security Solutions £540 plus a victim surcharge of £54 and court costs of £1050 payable within 28 days. The court also fined the company's acting manager Basharat Bashir £176. He is additionally required to pay a victim surcharge of £30 plus court costs of £1050.

INTERNATIONAL TRADE BODY WARNS OVER COUNTERFEIT CANNABIS GROWTH

Reports of counterfeit cannabis have reinforced the critical need to protect bonafide products and packaging, says the International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA).

Sales of synthetic cannabinoids being mis-sold as cannabis are on the rise in the UK, presenting a significant health risk to the general public, reports a harm reduction project* that analyses samples of drugs provided by the public and other participating organisations.

With the increased legalisation of the drug around the world, including in many US states, the IHMA believes it is critically important regulated cannabis products used for pain relief, relaxation and sleeping disorders, are protected fully and secure from the threat of criminal counterfeiters.

How insurance providers can battle against the growing web application attack surface

With reports of American insurance giant AJG suffering a data breach after a ransomware attack, the number of notable security incidents impacting insurance providers has increased since the turn of the year. The attack on AJG is another big insurance name to suffer a cyberattack and joins fellow US insurance provider, CNA Financial, which was forced to pay $40m to hackers to regain network control after a cyberattack. On the other side of the Atlantic, French multinational insurance provider, AXA, recently had a 3TB sensitive data leak after suffering a ransomware attack which severely impacted its operations in Southeast Asia. It’s clear the number of attacks against financial organisations, specifically insurance providers, are increasing and this is presenting significant dangers to them and their customers.
