Royal Navy and RAF sharpen submarine hunting skills in major NATO exercise

The UK’s anti-submarine forces took their skills to the next level during the largest workout in the Mediterranean.

For the first time two RAF Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft from CXX Squadron based at RAF Lossiemouth joined the Royal Navy for NATO’s Dynamic Manta, two weeks of cutting-edge tech and training involving seven Allied nations in the vanguard of underwater warfare.

In service since 2020, the Poseidon MRA1 has concentrated its training and operations in waters around the UK to date.

Brent and Merton councils struck by five successful ransomware attacks

London: Brent and Merton councils have disclosed that they were struck by a combined five successful ransomware attacks since 2016 amidst rising ransomware threats in the United Kingdom.

The information, contained in the Digital Government: A Secret Future report by the Parliament Street think tank, revealed the number of successful ransomware attacks, the downtime caused, and details of the ransom, over the past five years, obtained via the Freedom of Information Act (FOI).

A new report from cybersecurity leaders, ESET, reveals Londoners are at the greatest risk of cyberattacks in the UK with 5,258 reports from the region in the past year.

The study looked at cybercrime data from the City of London Police’s Fraud and Cyber Crime Dashboard to reveal the most common types of cybercrime in the UK and the areas with the highest rates of cybercrime.
