Information security viewed as beacon of light despite dark economic times

The constant exposure to cyber threats, what more with the emergence of new ones via social media has resulted in companies the world over investing heftily in upgrading their information security system. Total expenditure on secure routers, unified threat-management appliances, VPNs, network-access control, firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems will rise from $6 billion in 2010 and exceed $10 billion by 2016.

Varonis: UBS rogue trader fiasco is a classic case of 'exceeding authority'

As reports that Swiss international banking giant UBS has been hit by a two billion dollar loss caused by the actions of an apparent rogue trader, data governance specialist Varonis Systems says that the fraud appears to be a classic case of an employee – in this case dramatically – exceeding his authority.
