A report just issued showing the infamous Zeus malware as having shot to the number two spot in the malware charts comes as no surprise, says Trusteer.

Unicode feature misused to infect computers on a payment-per-install basis
“What you see is not what you get,” thanks to a new wave of malware that misuses a special language display feature to trick people into opening supposedly “safe” files. The new exploit misuses features in Unicode – the computing industry’s standard for representing text – to mask executable malware as “safe” files with a .doc or .jpg extension. It has been named "Unitrix" by AVAST Software analysts.
Vigilance can authoritatively report that foremost security chieftain; Trevor Elliot will report for duty at the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) on Monday, 19th September 2011 as its new Director of Manpower and Membership Services.
Vigilance learnt that Mr Elliot's role at the BSIA has been newly created to provide Director-level support to continue the development and promotion of manpower-based sections of membership, comprising Security Guarding, Close Protection, Crowd Management and Leisure Industry Security.
Our Industry News Team gathered that One of the key issues facing these sections of membership at present is the issue of future industry regulation, and Trevor will work closely with government and the Security Industry Authority to help shape a new regulatory regime in the interests of BSIA members. Trevor will also have a number of operational responsibilities and as such, will directly manage a number of BSIA staff engaged in membership services.
