Almost half of companies worry that BYOD increases viruses

London, UK: The results of a study released recently by Lieberman Software Corporation confirms that BYOD (bring your own device) increases costs to businesses. Respondents were asked if they believed allowing employees to connect their own devices (such as USB drives, mobile phones, portable PCs and home computers) to the corporate network increased costs – with 67% saying that it did increase costs.

UK cloud security company saves email system for retailer’s North American market

UK cloud security company Westcoastcloud came to the rescue of a business in California, USA, last weekend after it lost the entire email system for its North American market.

I/OMagic Corporation lost all connectivity to its Exchange server during a move into new offices in Irvine, CA on Friday 10 August. This left the employee’s 50 mailboxes offline with no prospect of connectivity being restored for at least week.

Android under attack: Malware levels for Google’s OS rise threefold in Q2 2012

Below is a summary of the level of malicious programs targeting the Android platform during spring and early summer 2012. The number of new malicious programs targeting the Android platform has almost trebled in the second quarter of the year, according to figures from Kaspersky Lab’s Q2 report on IT threat evolution. Over the three months in question, over 14,900 new malicious programs targeting this platform were added to Kaspersky Lab’s database.
