The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) announced recently that the US Defence Department was planning to build a single security architecture that ultimately would eliminate firewalls.

Below is a comment from Imperva's Senior Security Strategist, Barry Shteiman, on why he believes the DISA have made the right decision and have realised that with the threat landscape changing so should the defences to ensure they are not victims of an attack.

AlienVault Labs have been investigating a criminal underground store dedicated to selling access to hacked servers. In this store, a customer can buy an admin account and then carry out criminal activities from it, distribute malware, install a botnet etc. Pretty much whatever they would like to with the hacked server they have bought.
