91% of cybersecurity professionals are planning to invest more in threat intelligence in 2026 to help shore up defences against the growing risk of AI-assisted cyberattacks, according to a new report from Recorded Future.

A survey of over 600 cybersecurity professionals found that organisations are also prioritising threat intelligence amidst concerns about state-sponsored cyberattacks and the risks of serious disruption caused by cybercriminals.

New research by  Kiteworks reveals that European organisations trail global benchmarks on the security controls needed to detect AI-specific threats, respond to AI-enabled breaches, and govern AI data flows. It also exposes a worrying and widening gap between Europe's regulatory leadership and its actual AI security posture.

The report identifies six predictions for European organisations in 2026:

  1. AI-specific breach detection will lag other regions
  2. AI incident response will remain incomplete
  3. AI supply chain visibility will remain a blind spot
  4. Third-party AI vendor incidents will catch organisations unprepared
  5. AI governance evidence will remain manually generated
  6. AI incident response will remain incomplete

... but banks remain the most influential source of financial advice

• New FCA regulations present fresh opportunity for High Street banks to offer free investment advice – will 2026 see a change in saving habits?

New research shows that 55% of UK adults have turned to AI platforms at least sometimes over the past 12 months, investing on average £2,350 on the back of that advice.

However, AI platforms remain significantly less influential than banks' own websites, used by 81% of those surveyed, and MoneySavingExpert, used by 75%.

New regulations from the FCA, announced on 11th December, will allow banks to offer advice to customers on pensions and investment from April 2026. This will enable high street banks to better position themselves against digital-first alternatives like influencers and AI LLMs.
