A new report from Human Layer Security company Tessian reveals that two in five Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) have missed holidays like Thanksgiving due to work demands. In addition, one-quarter have not taken time off work in the past 12 months.

One of Britain’s biggest warships was towed through the Channel to help the French test the power of a new specialist ship.
The FS Garonne hauled huge assault ship HMS Albion past the coast of Devon to assess its pulling strength and abilities – as well as hone Anglo-French naval co-operation and the Royal Navy’s own emergency procedures.
The Garonne is one of four new specialist Loire-class support ships built for the French Navy designed to provide a multitude of services, from supporting diving operations and dealing with pollution in the aftermath of a spillage at sea, to assisting submarines and surface ships, including salvage operations.
SANTA CLARA, Calif.: Arista Networks has joined the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), an ecosystem of independent software vendors and managed security service providers that have integrated their solutions to better defend against a world of increasing threats. Arista was nominated based on an integration between Arista’s NDR (Network Detection and Response) platform and Microsoft Azure Sentinel. This integration enables faster remediation of threats by combining network context and threat detection with log-based and endpoint insights within Azure Sentinel.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday mark two of the most important events for retailers in the United States, if not the world. In fact, November and December have historically accounted for nearly a third of the retail industry’s annual sales. However with cybercrime, particularly ransomware, growing in 2021 by as much as 900% IT professionals in the retail industry have no choice but to up their game.
Of course, the retail industry has been chief among those to feel the ransomware pain. According to Sophos’s State of Ransomware in Retail 2021 Report, approximately 44% of retail organizations were hit by a ransomware attack in 2020, and more than half of those affected (54%) said cyber criminals had succeeded in encrypting their data. The research also indicated that 32% of retail organizations whose data was encrypted paid the ransom to get their data back. The average ransom payment was US$147,811 – lower than the global average of US$170,404.
