Vigilance can report that as part of its commitment towards promoting high standards in the sector, members of the Close Protection section of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) have launched their own Code of Ethics.
A spokesperson for the BSIA told Vigilance the document aims at safeguarding the interests of end users of close protection services, by providing clear guidelines on the way business processes are followed by all BSIA CP Section member companies. It covers areas such as the way members agree to handle the marketing and advertising of services, the quality of the service, written terms and conditions of supply, compliance with all legal requirements and after-sales service.
Mike O’Neill, Chairman of the BSIA’s Close Protection section said: “Close Protection section members all have the common goal of delivering high quality customer service. They do this whilst advocating transparency and quality of processes, and the compliance with industry standards.”
O’Neill added: “BSIA membership already proves our section members’ commitment towards promoting quality standards within our industry, so the creation of British Standard 8507-1, and, more recently, the Code of Ethics go one step further in demonstrating exactly how we plan on achieving this within our sector.”
He enthused: “With the arrival of the Olympic Games to London this week, the formal launch of this Code of Ethics reinforces our commitment to customer service and provides peace of mind to visiting VIPs and dignitaries who choose a BSIA member to provide their close protection while visiting the UK this summer.”
