Amazon Web Services announcement of the launch of its AWS Certificate Manager yesterday has High-Tech Bridge asking why Amazon has joined the game so late, with such a geographically limited service.
Infosecurity consultancy High-Tech Bridge's free SSL/TSL security checker, which provides users with complimentary TLS (transport layer security) and SSL (secure socket layer) analysis and report, was launched back in October 2015 and, since then, nearly 97,000 tests have been conducted, where users want to check the reliability and security of their data encryption.
Unlike Amazon, High-Tech Bridge offers a 24/7 service world-wide. Amazon's service is only currently provided in the US East Coast. That's a shame as High-Tech Bridge's Live SSL Security World Map clearly shows that SSL tests are in demand internationally and not just on the US' East Coast. High-Tech Bridge has added to the service by launching a free API last month.
High-Tech Bridge's CEO, Ilia Kolochenko says: " It's a great initiative, however one shouldn't forget that an SSL certificate is just a small part of SSL/TLS data encryption. Strong cipher suites, reliable protocols, the latest versions of software and correct configurations are also vitally important. Our free SSL/TLS service allows companies from all over the world to test the entire chain of their SSL security for PCI DSS compliance requirements and NIST guidelines online in just a few clicks.
“Today many people associate SSL/TLS encryption only with HTTPS, but actually, there are far more protocols that rely on SSL data encryption. Usually people forget to test security and reliability of non-HTTPS services, our free online testing service and the free API will change this situation. We are currently working on other free online services aimed at making the Web a safer place, so stay tuned.”
High-Tech Bridge’s service is making web encryption easier, by simplifying the process and providing checks across the board on any server - not just those within the AWS cloud. It also – perhaps more importantly – eases the process of renewing certificates and, as a result, is increasing developer loyalty.
To test a website or web application for yourself, please feel free to use High-Tech Bridge's SSL checker: https://www.htbridge.com/ssl/. The results are very fast to acquire and the API can be integrated into existing or new software to perform functions such as a regular security check of a website or app. Web development teams and website owners will be able to use the SSL/TLS checking service to feed into automatically generated reports.
