Recently, Dr Vince Cable, Member of Parliament for Twickenham, and appropriately Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade officially opened the new Frequentis UK facilities at Regal House in Twickenham.
The event attracted a number of guests including the Austrian Trade Commissioner Georg Karabaczek who gave the welcoming address, which focussed on the strong business links between the United Kingdom and Austria.
Dr Cable heard first-hand from Managing Director of Frequentis UK John Gurney and his team the success enjoyed by Frequentis UK over the last 22 years. He then explained the future investment plan, as they look to develop the UK with a greater local engineering capability that will be able to support not only UK activity, but be in a position to support the Frequentis Group’s strong international presence. As evidence of these plans, Frequentis announced on the 1st March taking a majority shareholding in UK leading air traffic systems integrator, Systems Interface Limited, whose management were also in attendance.
Mr Gurney said: “This move to Twickenham though modest, will help us achieve our growth goals over the next 5 years. We are very honoured that Dr. Vince Cable, as our Member of Parliament for Twickenham has been able to take time out of his busy schedule to support us in this way”.
Vince Cable was then introduced to members of staff as he had a tour of the demonstration suite that showed part of the broad Frequentis product portfolio, including:
- Electronic Flight Strip systems used globally and also in the UK by Frequentis customer NATS.
- GSM-R communications dispatcher used as part of the Network Rail national communications programme.
- The recently launched 3020 LifeX, a Control Centre Solution developed for the European Public Safety Market
Mr Cable was impressed to learn that during the 2012 London Olympics, Frequentis Critical IT Control Room Solutions were in operation across all of its business sectors. These included key customers, Metropolitan Police Service, Port of London Authority, UK Ministry of Defence, NATS and Network Rail. He was also keen to see that this IT company had received a unique Metropolitan Police Commendation for outstanding professionalism and commitment to the MPS in successfully delivering its IT project on time and within budget.
