Kuala Lumpur: YABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia launched the inaugural Infosecurity World Exhibition & Conference (ISWec 2012) at the Putra World Trade Centre, on the 21 March 2012, reflecting the country’s growing role as an Asian information security hub.
ISWec 2012 is numbered among the most extensive information security trade shows and conferences in Asia, with more than 5,000 local and international exhibitors and visitors thronging the fair.
Organized by JFPS Group, a leading business performance enhancement company with affiliated partners across the globe, ISWec 2012 runs concurrently with the InfoSec Asia 2012 conference. The 2-day tradeshow featured 160 leading brands from global industry players.
Themed ‘Forging New Businesses and Strategic Alliances’, ISWec 2012 serves as a platform to showcase the latest products and technologies in information security while providing delegates with updates on the latest trends and solutions to internal and external information security threats with the focus on effective management of people, processes and technologies.
It attracted exhibitors and participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, the People’s Republic of China, Korea, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, France, Russia and the United States among other countries.
At the launch YABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor noted that Malaysia was becoming a regional hub of choice for information technology in Asia due to its strategic location, excellent infrastructure, skilled and dynamic workforce and supportive government.
“Information assets are critical to every organisation. The security and safeguarding of these assets are paramount to survive and thrive in this highly digital global economy. The congregation of key industry players in Malaysia at the ISWec 2012 is a reflection of Malaysia’s growing role as an information security hub in the Asian region,” YABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor said.
She observed that securing information has become more vital as information is power in the digital world.
“As information now flows without geographical boundaries we cannot stem the tide but need to ride the wave as there are enormous opportunities for organizations to innovate, to offer products and services and to assist other organizations to survive and thrive even as hostile threats on information systems increase,” she said.
The event was powered by Splunk>, Softline and Crossbeam.
Ms Jocelyn Ng, Project Director, ISWec 2012 said that the response to the inaugural ISWec event had exceeded expectations with global vendors and regional buyers transacting contracts worth more than USD100 million.
“We planned ISWec 2012 in response to the growing importance of information security across the board. Organisations are often not up to date in their knowledge of the products, services and technologies that can suit their very specific needs, while global vendors do not have the region or country specific knowledge and business network of the organizations that need their help,” explained Ms. Ng.
ISWec 2012 distinguished itself from other business technology events through its strong trade focus that was developed to connect business owners with buyers. The exhibition included a trade mart, business showcases and extensive networking opportunities for superior business matching.
Three specialized showcases were held at ISWec 2012 for Data Storage, Cloud Technology and Software Development where experts and key players exchanged their views and strategies:
