Detectives investigating the death of 30-year-old Oliver Dearlove, on Sunday, 28 August arrested a man on suspicion of his murder.
A 31-year-old man was said to have been arrested this morning, Thursday, 1 September, on suspicion of Oliver's murder and on suspicion of ABH after he attended a south London police station by appointment. He remains in police custody at that police station.
Despite this seeming breakthrough, detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have continued to investigate.
Oliver Dearlove, from Eltham, died in hospital, following the assault the assaulted in Tranquil Vale, Blackheath, SE3.
Although further tests are ongoing, a post-mortem examination held at Greenwich Mortuary on Monday, 29 August, gave the provisional cause of death as intracranial haemorrhage.
On the night of his death, Oliver was believed to be in Blackheath with friends, and they had visited a bar in Montpelier Vale.
According to a Met source the group left the bar and walked down Montpelier Vale, turning right into Tranquil Vale, where they awaited the arrival of a pre-booked taxi.
The police source said whilst waiting in Tranquil Vale, Oliver's group began speaking to a group of women. Early witness accounts indicate that a man approached Oliver's group and assaulted one of Oliver's friends, before striking Oliver which caused him to collapse.

DCI Watling added: "However, if you were in the area that night and saw something that may help our investigation but haven't yet spoken to us then please call the Incident Room."
