New DDoS managed service ensures businesses have a plan for attacks
London: Independent IT security service provider SecureData, has launched a new Affinity managed service for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) protection in partnership with Arbor Networks, a leading provider of network security and management solutions for enterprises and service providers.
In response to well over 2,000* DDoS attacks currently taking place each day worldwide, SecureData with its specialist knowledge in managed services and Arbor Networks with its proven on-premise Pravail Availability Protection System (APS) have come together to provide businesses with a complete outsourced solution to defend against both known and emerging availability threats such as application-layer DDoS attacks and other
cyber-attacks. Application-layer DDoS attacks are increasingly deployed by hackers targeting the perimeter of businesses networks. Such attacks are harder to detect because they move slower and use less bandwidth than traditional volumetric type flooding attacks. They target existing security infrastructure, such as firewalls, and can be used to bring down a website or a web service such as email, which can have far-reaching consequences for businesses.
“Cyber-attacks are unfortunately becoming relentless in their regularity and scope, and they are becoming more complex too – no business should assume it is safe”, commented Etienne Greeff, managing director of SecureData. “Businesses must take a risk management approach to their IT security to ensure they are protected before an attack takes place. If they cannot do that internally, they must look to trusted, outsourced support.”
Jeremy Nicholls, channel and business development director, EMEA of Arbor Networks said: “Cyber security should be a major concern for all businesses. The impact that a cyber-attack can have is huge, particularly given the volume of data that most companies hold. Ultimately it comes down to ensuring your bottom line and your brand is protected.”
