Mike Yaffe aims to help promote ISVA interests in North America
UK: The Information Security Vendors Association has appointed Mike Yaffe, Sr. Director of Product Marketing for Core Security, as its first board member and first senior representative for the ISVA in North America.
“Anybody that has met Mike will understand why he is such an asset for the ISVA as it strives to reach a wider community, “explains Graham Mann, Executive Director for the ISVA, “Mike is an extremely passionate individual and a fantastic yet plain speaking communicator that exemplifies many of the ideals for which the ISVA represents.”
Mike is an ex-journalist with a Master’s degree in journalism with nearly twenty years of product and marketing experience in the security industry. He has worked for Core Security, a provider of predictive security intelligence solutions for almost ten years. Mike has exhibited at most of the major trade events in North America and Europe and is a regular speaker at both formal and informal events across the security industry.
“The idea of a independent, democratic and progressive association to help promote the security industry is both welcomed and long overdue,” explains Yaffe, “Information Security needs a voice that can educate and promote our mutual interests to a wider community and I look forward to helping in any way I can.”
Founded as a not for profit organisation with elected officials, ISVA has three fundamental goals. The first being to promote the association, champion the cause of information security and act as a voice for the vendor community worldwide at all levels throughout; government, industry, commerce and the wider consumer community.
The second is to become indispensable in the provision of services that are both germane to member needs and delivered effectually. The third is to cultivate vigorous relationships with special interest groups, other industry associations and government bodies to build awareness and develop business opportunities for the members.
Yaffe as well as other initial board members will serve in their respective roles for an initial 12 months, overseeing a ratification of the charter and the initial election process for the executive board, regional boards and steering committees to take place.
The ISVA kicked off its recruitment campaign at the Infosec Europe show at London Earls Court this April. During the event, ISVA representatives spoke with several hundred interested parties and Mann confirms that the first set of members will be announced in Q3.
