Former President and CEO of HP Fortify Brings Decades of Experience in Senior Management
Campbell, Calif.: AlienVault, creator of OSSIM, the de facto standard open source SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), announced today the appointment of John M. Jack (JJ) to its board of directors. Jack joins a stellar line up of technology and venture capital leaders, who together bring a broad range of strategic and operational insights to AlienVault.
Most recently, Jack served as CEO of Fortify Software, which was sold to Hewlett Packard in 2010. Along with the founders and management team, he helped grow Fortify more than 40 percent year over year. Jack began his career at Sybase as one of the first sales representatives and eventually became a senior vice president of sales, serving on a team that grew sales revenue from $0 to $1 billion. As COO of Vantive Corporation, Jack grew the company from early stage to a dominant public offering before its eventual sale to PeopleSoft. At Covalent, a pioneer in open source, he was CEO for three years, before the company was acquired by VMware. Jack is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.
“JJ is a distinguished technology veteran with over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, executive management and open source,” said Barmak Meftah, President and CEO of AlienVault. “At HP Fortify, JJ was instrumental in establishing the company as a global market leader in software security. His expertise and counsel will be invaluable as we seek to expand AlienVault’s market penetration and move towards our next stage of growth.”
“It’s an honor to join the AlienVault board of directors,” said Jack. “Given the broad appeal of the open source OSSIM, the compelling value delivered by the AlienVault Unified Security Management Platform, the company’s leadership in bringing together a global community of users with the AlienVault Open Threat Exchange and the caliber of the company’s executive team, AlienVault is well positioned for rapid growth and expansion.”
