Members of the British Security Industry Association’s Export Council have returned from the 19th edition of Intersec reporting another successful exhibition for UK exporters.
Intersec Dubai was held over the 22nd – 24th January at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Show organisers, Messe Frankfurt, have since stated that the show attracted 33,501 visitors from a wide range of countries. The show also attracted the largest number of exhibitors in its 19 year history, with 1,304 companies from 58 different companies in attendance. The UK was the third most represented nation in attendance, with a total of 150 exhibitors making the journey to the Middle East.
Of the 150 UK exhibitors, 77 opted to exhibit within the UK Pavilion – organised by the BSIA as the Approved Trade Organisation for the security industry – which enabled them to exhibit under the same ‘Great Britain Brand’ and benefit from support from the BSIA before and during the show.
Daren Wood, Membership and Export Services Manager for the BSIA, said: “The quality and innovation UK Pavilion exhibitors brought to the exhibition was recognised by visitors to the show. The Pavilion is quickly becoming the first place to visit for serious security and fire buyers. The UK Pavilion was supported by the Department of International Trade and the initial feedback from exhibitors has been very, very positive. I’m sure that Intersec 2018 will be even more successful.”
TDSi saw a notable increase in visitors to their stand and an increased enthusiasm from visitors which they believe reflects potentially exciting growth in the Middle East security sector for 2017 and beyond. The company chose Intersec for the regional unveiling of the new GARDiS web-based application which attracted many visitors as it provides a highly secure we-based application, which is easily adaptable for an increased workload, provides easier maintenance and installation and is accessible from anywhere on any device. TDSi Managing Director, John Davies, commented: “Intersec 2017 proved to be another highly successful year for the TDSi stand. As seasoned exhibitors at the show, we enjoyed increased visitor numbers and high quality leads, which reflected the mood of the visitors and the market as a whole. We are looking forward to capitalising on this year’s success and exhibiting again next year.”
Texecom also reported a hugely successful show. Clym Brown, Texecom’s Marketing Director, stated: “Texecom enjoyed its most successful Intersec show to date, with a record number of visitors to the Texecom stand. At Intersec 2017, Texecom showcased the upcoming introduction of Texecom Connect, a new way of interacting, controlling and integrating Texecom security systems. Visitors were especially interested in the home automation functionality offered by the new Texecom Connect app, as this is underpinned by a certified, graded, scalable and professional security system architecture.”
The third attendance at Intersec Dubai for UK manufacturer of toughened access control devices, Storm Interface, also proved very successful. Peter Jarvis, Senior Executive VP, commented: “Intersec 2017 proved the effectiveness of supported export initiative. The contacts we made during the first two attendances have developed into productive trading relationships.” Storm products were presented at the show by two ‘Storm-in-Stock’ partners, Norbain SD and Digital Factors. Both have extensive local experience and an established presence in the region. Jarvis considers the support provided by the BSIA and UK DIT provided a platform for Storm to identify potential partners in the region and to develop the all-important personal relationships with key personnel based in the UAE.
