Middlesbrough: Simon Hall, the CEO of Coeus Software/PoliceBox has been appointed to the Management Committee of techUK’s Justice & Emergency Services (JES) Programme.
techUK is the UK’s leading technology membership organisation, representing its 850+ members across the UK. techUK works collaboratively with government and others to champion the needs of the UK technology sector and provide expert guidance and insight for the industry.
The techUK Justice & Emergency Services (JES) Programme has 280 members who are represented by the JES Management Committee (JESMC), a group of 13 representatives who work together to oversee the strategic leadership and direction of the programme. The JESMC is chaired by Allan Fairley MD of Public Safety at Accenture, with Natalie Coaten, Client Executive for Home Office and Police at IBM as Vice Chair.
Commenting on his reasons for joining the committee, Simon Hall said, “I hope that through my membership I can help to represent the voices of the many SMEs that deliver innovation and value to the public sector every day. Alongside my SME colleagues on the committee, I will use my voice to raise awareness of the various challenges faced by SMEs in this sector, particularly the various procurement barriers that are so commonly reported which hold back the innovation of frontline emergency services.”
“I firmly believe that SMEs should be playing a much bigger role in the Emergency Services sector than they currently do, and that the public sector also wants them to participate more. The challenge is not a lack of desire from the public sector, but of systemic barriers which stand in the way, such as procurement rounds being unnecessarily lengthy, the necessity to participate in frameworks that rarely deliver a return on investment, to business terms that are simply too risky for SMEs to agree to.”
