Assistant Commissioner, Chris Allison, yesterday reacted to Lady Justice Hallett's verdict of unlawful killing of the 52 people in the 7/7 terrorist attacks.
Speaking outside the Royal Courts of Justice he said: "It is important today to think of the friends and family of those who were murdered on July 7 2005 and all those who were injured on that day. Our thoughts are with everyone and that date will have an everlasting impact on those people.”
AC Allison added: "Throughout the last five months the Metropolitan police have sought to assist the coroner with providing as much information as possible to enable answers to be given to the many questions people have had. We sincerely hope that by doing that we can at least give some element of closure to some of the people affected by what happened on that day.”
Allison was full of praise for the police: "I am exceptionally proud of the work carried out by the men and women from the Metropolitan Police Service, both on the day of 7/7 and in the weeks and months which followed it. We have had the report this morning with recommendations. We will take that report away, we will read it and we will respond quickly and appropriately."
