It has been reported that businesses in Guernsey are being warned about a group of cyber criminals targeting the island's firms. During the last 12-18 months the organisation calling itself DD4BC has been targeting various companies - ranging from online casinos to banks - with ‘distributed denial of service’ attacks (DDoS).
Igal Zeifman, Senior Digital Strategist at Imperva: “Based on our experience with mitigating several DD4BC assaults, the group commands enough botnet resources to launch mid-sized application layer and network layer DDoS attacks. While their ransom emails boast a 400-500Gbps capacity, the attacks we observed were significantly smaller, peaking at 40Gbps--less than "advertised" but still enough to bring down most unprotected network infrastructures.”
