Today, Wire is announcing that it is now providing anyone with the ability to join conversations securely. The major ‘guest rooms’ update lets desktop browsers join a Wire conversation remotely, using the company’s distributed encryption architecture to secure external communication for businesses.
The move will see Wire becomes the first collaboration platform that combines a messenger, file sharing, and voice and video calls for internal and external communication protected with open source, audited end-to-end encryption protocol.
New feature brings security to the extended enterprise by protecting both external and internal conversations with distributed encryption architecture
Berlin, DE: Wire has announced a new guest rooms feature for its enterprise customers. Guest rooms allows anyone to join conversations on Wire with just one click without downloading the app or creating an account, and still have the communication protected with Wire’s full end-to-end encryption.
With today’s announcement, Wire becomes the first collaboration platform that combines a messenger, file sharing, and voice and video calls for internal and external communication, all protected with open source, audited end-to-end encryption protocol. This makes Wire a natural choice for organizations who want the best security for working within the team and with partners, customers and others. Guest rooms means that more business conversations can take advantage of the industry-leading security that sets Wire apart from the competition.
“Securely communicating internally, and then insecurely with partners, customers, job candidates, is madness,” said Morten Brøgger, CEO, Wire. “A company's security should not be weaker when talking to third-parties and people outside their organisation. Wire recognises this need, and is happy to be breaking new ground for end-to-end encrypted applications by offering this feature”.
Guest rooms feature is available to all Wire enterprise customers. Companies that have already chosen Wire for its competitive pricing and game changing distributed encryption architecture, now have additional functionality to ensure that their sensitive external communication has the same level of protection as their internal chats and calls.
“No one except Wire offers a feature that matches this from a technical and security standpoint”, said Alan Duric, CTO/COO and co-founder, Wire. “Communication with external parties the biggest threat for companies as they can’t guarantee that their partners all use equally secure solutions. Guest rooms is a true one-click experience that doesn’t require an account or any software to download and install and a perfect solution to mitigate this risk. I’m very proud of the huge engineering and design feat the team pulled off.”
Guest rooms enables two new use cases. Customers can invite other Wire users from other teams or those using the free account to join a guest room simply by sharing a web-link. This creates a permanent chat for a project involving partners, for example.
Customers can also share a web-link with anyone without an existing Wire account, like a job interview candidate. Clicking that link will open the guest room chat window in a web browser with the communication – chat, shared files, calls – protected with full end-to-end encryption.
