Berlin: Snom Technology, celebrating twenty years since it was founded in 1997, has successfully completed the full spectrum of interoperability testing with German developer IPTAM’s PBX solution. In addition, the IP phone vendor also announced its latest major firmware update this year.
Following extensive interoperability testing, the IPTAM PBX integrates the full range of Snom IP phones including the D3XX series, the D7XX Series and the workplace mobility DECT multi and single cell solutions so that they can be automatically configured and implement diverse telephony functions and systems. Features include call forwarding configuration on the PBX directly from the Snom phone, call list display, executive/secretary and call management. The IPTAM PBX central phone directory is also available directly via the Snom phone and can even be accessed during calls.
“Users of Snom IP phones can now feel completely at home with the IPTAM PBX and will have access to an advanced range of telephony features that the IPTAM PBX offers,” reflected IPTAM CEO Karsten Wemheuer. “The Snom desk phones, as well as their mobile DECT solutions, now work seamlessly with our PBX for an easy to deploy complete telephony system.”
Alongside this latest interoperability success, Snom has also released a major update to its firmware to version 8.9.3.60 for the D3XX Series and D7XX Series. Following an extended period of QA and beta testing the familiar Snom strengths of security, stability, user-friendliness and functionality will now be even more comprehensive than before.
Among the highlights of this update is the new Snom Icon Interface which the design team has developed to increase intuitive usage and cut down text-heavy menus with self-explanatory symbols that are recognizable in any language. “The best thing about the new icon designs is not just that they are easy to use and understand but that they can be adapted for specific purposes,” explained Mark Wiegleb, Snom Technology’s Head of Interop and Integration. “For example, a hotel can add a direct dial to each Snom phone to its reception or room service by means of an easy to recognize icon.”
