New ‘badge of quality’ in the security industry set to debut at Infosec.
Hedgehog Security will launch a new badge of quality at Info Security Europe 2013 – the Hedgehog Security Truststamp. The Midlands-based security consultancy is launching the branded concept at the show on stand K97. The Truststamp will allow Hedgehog’s clients to assure their own customers that they take information security seriously and deal with it at the highest level.
Customers of Hedgehog Security will be provided with the Truststamp logo and an accompanying set of marketing materials to display on their web site, in their offices and to use in their own promotional activity. The company believes that the brand will act as a deterrent to hackers.
“The Hedgehog Truststamp can be earned by taking advantage of high level security services, such as penetration testing our own Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) and My Information Security Officer (MyISO) products,” explained Peter Bassill, managing director and founder of Hedgehog Security.
Bassill will also be speaking at Infosec on the subject of small business security. He will examine the perceived versus actual security threats for small businesses across the UK.
“SMEs exaggerate spectacular but rare risks, and downplay common ones. For example, terrorism causes far more anxiety than a common data breach, even though the latter is more likely to be the nail in the coffin for many organisations,” he explained.
Peter will also analyse why only 25% of data breach cases are the work of external attackers and 12% of them are perpetrated by insiders. The remaining 63% of the problems are caused by incidents such as staff losing or misplacing corporate assets, physical theft of laptops, smartphones or portable memory and the misuse of company assets.
Also available will be details of the company’s three principal products; its penetration testing services, vCISO and MyISO My Information Security Officer (MyISO) is the first service of its kind - a virtual data security programme designed for small and medium businesses. It offers affordable compliance, data and systems protection.
vCISO allows businesses to benefit from the expertise of senior level Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) without having to hire one. Hedgehog Security can help fulfil this need, working as a member of the senior management team by leading data security programmes and initiatives.
Hedgehog’s penetration testing service is founded on the process of identifying security gaps in customer IT infrastructures by mimicking an attack. Peter Bassill describes it as being, “like quality assurance for a company’s IT security.”
