Just as in the US, Osama bin Laden’s death is sending fears down every artery of the British life for fear of possible reprisal. The fear of Bin Laden even in death is the beginning of wisdom, or what do you think?
"While the official terror alert for the UK remains at severe, the BSIA is reinforcing the Government's message of increased vigilance against potential reactionary terrorist attacks," Said James Kelly Chief Executive of the BSIA.
Immediately after the news of Bin Laden’s death had been made public by the US Government, Foreign Secretary, William Hague, had warned of the risk of retaliatory attacks against the UK, putting embassies and government buildings already on high alert.
A source at the BSIA said the Association is echoing this warning by reinforcing the important role that effective security could play in dealing with terrorism.
As a flashback, Kelly reminded the British public: "As we have already seen from the 7/7 bombings and Glasgow airport attack, the private security industry plays an essential part in detecting and solving terror crimes. However, it is also important to recognise the importance of a strong security presence in deterring further crimes. CCTV systems, physical security, access control and the presence of uniformed security personnel can all work effectively to provide a holistic approach to ensure maximum security, protecting businesses against all manner of crimes.”
While trying to conjecture possible areas of attack, Kelly said: "In the wake of the death of Osama Bin Laden, areas at particular risk of falling victim to retaliatory attack in the UK might include public sector and government buildings, the transport network and crowded city centres. As such, the BSIA recommends for organisations of all kinds to consider what additional security measures may be of particular value.
Enlisting the help of a security consultant is a perfect place to start for those businesses without specific security expertise.”
