Boris Johnson, Mayor of London makes this statement in response to yesterday's tragic incident in Woolwich:
I want to pay tribute, not just to the work of the police and the security services, but above all to the people of Woolwich who showed such exemplary courage and bravery in dealing with an appalling situation. That is the spirit of London and today I call on Londoners to go about their lives in the normal way.
It is completely wrong to blame this killing on the religion of Islam". But it is also equally wrong to try to draw any link between this murder and British foreign policy or our forces who are risking their lives abroad for the sake of freedom. The fault lies wholly and exclusively in the warped and deluded mind-set of the people who did it. What we need now, for the sake of the victim and for the sake of his family, is for those killers to be brought to justice.
