Industry leading network security specialist, Boston Networks, has been awarded the contract to design and deliver a new critical CCTV Control Centre for East Renfrewshire Council.
Furthermore, Boston Networks will manage and maintain the Council’s CCTV surveillance solution to ensure increased levels of public safety throughout the council area.
Today in East Renfrewshire there are more than 150 cameras covering key locations including schools, council buildings and various public spaces. Each camera is directly linked to the existing control centre which is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
Boston Networks has began the complete overhaul of East Renfrewshire's control centre, which will replace all of the existing analogue technology with an IP solution, to support over 250 cameras and to ensure the delivery of critical and consistent CCTV control across the region.
The updated control centre, which is due to go live in October, is set to be the Council’s first step on its migration path from analogue to IP technology offering a myriad of enhanced functionality and more effective recording and storage of critical footage. Boston Networks will also work closely with the Council to assist with the delivery of their new Community Safety Strategy, aimed at delivering a ‘safer and stronger’ East Renfrewshire.
Not only is Boston Networks committed to delivering a robust, cost effective and scalable solution it will also maintain the Council’s CCTV estate for the next 3 years; guaranteeing East Renfrewshire unrivalled 24/7 maintenance and support from our Glasgow based Network Operation Centre (NOC).
Over the past 24 months, Boston Networks has been working extensively across the public sector, to design and manage CCTV migration strategies. As organisations and public sector bodies find that the cost of maintaining their existing analogue CCTV network steadily grows, and the performance is demonstrably poorer than currently available technology, the prospect of continued investment in old technology and shoring up ageing equipment looks less appealing. Migration planning becomes key in such situations, ensuring that the migration to current technology is in line with financial and operational constraints, whilst still meeting the user expectations and overall project objectives.
With its experienced team of CCTV and networking specialists Boston Networks is workingclosely with its clients to deliver cutting edge, cost effective solutions that reduce camera count, increase coverage, improve image quality, simplify storage & retrieval and centralise management.
