Trinity House, London today hosted the annual ‘Peregrine Trophy’ Royal Navy Photographic Competition awards. Named after HMS Peregrine Royal Naval Air Station in Sussex, the competition dates back to 1961 and recognises the diversity, talent and creative ability of Service photographers with a focus on the life and operational activities of the Royal Navy.
An MoD source said the awards show cased the talent of the professionals of the Navy’s Photographic branch and keen amateur photographers and aim to encourage and recognise the production of eye-catching images that capture the spirit, ethos and unique capability of the Naval Service.
The Royal Navy and Royal Marines are routinely deployed on operations all around the world and the stunning images highlight the diversity of these naval operations.
The Competition which can appropriately be termed as a celebration of creativity featured photographs and footage, ranging from the operational theatres of Afghanistan, the latest warships patrolling the oceans to people, places, and events around the world often in extraordinary circumstances.
