Tears for my beloved nation
Nigeria...unfinished, but when will work start?
Grounded...but who grounded my Nigeria? Just when will my country take off and soar?
Dear Children,
Little Children, as I write to you in this season of national anxiety, sorrow and emergency, I consider it my moral responsibilty to warn the entire people of Nigeria, both in the Upper and Lower Niger that once again the ship of state is buffetting against the stormy gale of the Atlantic Ocean.
I'm distressed beyond measure at this time, with heavy tears in my eyes and a great sorrow in my heart, noticing that after over 54 years of the consecration of our Great Union, you have not like the Great Niger and Benue learnt to live peacefully with one another imbibing the lessons offered us by the Governor of the universe who afore time, even before the amalgamation, conjoined the people of the NIBE (Niger and Benue) FEDERATION together as in the confluence in Lokoja.
Lamentably, in nearly 55 years of the Union, you the people of the NIBE FEDERATION have refused to promote and encourage the NIBE philosophy; the NIBE vision; the NIBE consciousness; the NIBE truism; the NIBE compassion of being one another's keeper; the NIBE trademark conviction and consciencism, the NIBE renaissance; the NIBE civilization and cultures; the NIBE dream, instead you have chosen to live amongst yourselves in the manner of dogs, in the manner of cats and dogs eternally huddled together in a wild anaerobic zoo; always in strife with yourselves; always struggling needlessly for supremacy; always quarelling; always figting, and if my memory has not failed me as I advance in age, ye had for thirty months taken this needless struggles amongst yourselves to a point of extremity nearing breaking point.
Little children, now that you are again heading towards that Dark Valley, always known and called THE DARK VALLEY 1966, I'd like to warn all of you about your now infamous impetuosity, hyper-intolerance, inflammability and eruptive tendency that ye must drive slowly across the stones.
Little children, why do always like to play with fire and in dangerous spots? Little children, why can you not live in peace and harmony with yourselves just for a second? Little children, why are you such wild beasts, always behaving to yourselves, even though ye are children of the same biological parents, like animals in the wild, when the whole world expects so much from you? Why is it so difficult for you to build together, little children?
You locusts and worms, I thoroughly detest your strange love for strange and detestetable things - it's your nature to eat your tomorrow today.
Why are you always restive, having the whole world to yourselves? Why are you always anxious when you have many rooms for each one of you to operate? Why, why, why I ask, this eternal worry, with all the superabundance in and around you? Why are some of you so greedy and glutonous?
How come that the GREAT NIBE FEDERATION has become a land that devours its inhabitants, such that many members of your household have now developed grasshopper complex because of the giants and ogres that prowl about from the savanna to the rainforest, seeking whom to devour?
Are you so foolish not to know that when you fight amongst yourselves, it is the hawks, the wild donkeys of the desert and the dragons that gain? And to these strangers and predators from the West and East, be ye warned that ye do not act well to keep meddling in the affairs of the NIBEANS and the whole of Africa and Africa Diaspora, being sovereign people who can sort out themselves!
Little ones, are ye so stupid not to know all persons of African ancestry look up to you?
Are you such dafts that you cannot notice that there are already too many scars on your national conscience, national subconscious and psyche - too, too many now, and in spite of these, more and more wounds are being inflicted thereon at a speed that whilst one is about to heal, another is inflicted on the heart of the nation - the very spot through whose arteries the blood flows to keep all the NIBIANS alive?
Nigeria appears to be the only nation in the world, where its citizens take delight in inflicting wounds upon wounds/injuries upon injuries on the conscience of its polity without allowing the previous ones to first heal. Thus, the Nigerian polity/Federation is one full of unhealed wounds.
But those who intensely lust for power all of the time must not forget that Ndigbo have not ruled Nigeria for the past 49 years! And they must not forget that the Nigerian polity is a superactive-supereruptive-supervolcano now on the same political fault lines and ring of fire like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Somalia, Yemen, Bangladesh, Tunisia, Syria, Sudan, South Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, etc, etc.
