LONDON (UK): Varonis Systems, Inc. has announced it has enabled the employees of ATMI to use cloud-style file sharing remotely and securely using any device with customers, vendors and each other – turning their existing file shares into a private cloud – through the adoption of Varonis DatAnywhere.
ATMI, an Entegris company, is a leader in advanced materials and material delivery systems serving the exacting demands of the semiconductor and electronics industries. To enable rapidly increasing digital collaboration without moving large amounts of sensitive data from existing file servers onto a public cloud, the ATMI IT department turned to Varonis and provided employee access to DatAnywhere, which enables secure sharing of large files quickly and efficiently. With DatAnywhere, the data remains on ATMI’s servers, where it is protected by enterprise-level security measures.
David Gibson, VP at Varonis, said, “DatAnywhere turns existing file shares into an instant private cloud so remote employees can collaborate with each other, with customers or with vendors from anywhere, using their mobile devices – securely and without large amounts of sensitive data being moved off-premise to accommodate them. Until this alternative, employees have naturally turned to various public cloud services. ATMI and many other organizations are discovering that DatAnywhere provides the perfect solution to empower collaboration efficiently and securely.”
The ATMI IT team knew that uncontrolled cloud usage for corporate data posed a serious threat and could possibly lead to a data breach. Many employees were even using the cloud-based sites to share files internally. Preston Butler, ATMI’s Director of IT Infrastructure, said, “With DatAnywhere, the IT department now controls the data being shared because it sits on our servers and we have full access to it.”
In addition to implementing DatAnywhere for the company’s file sync and sharing needs, ATMI also relies on Varonis DatAdvantage to manage permissions. Before ATMI discovered DatAdvantage, they were looking for a solution that would help them clean up their file share repositories, increasing control over and visibility of their data. Additionally, employees often accidentally moved or deleted important files, and the IT team didn’t have a way to track them down or restore them.
Butler continued, "Varonis solidified the security approach and the best practices that we've been following. With DatAdvantage, we can quickly audit, report and review our security.”
