Massoud Shadjareh, the chair of IHRC, said: "Complicity in torture for profit will not go unnoticed. G4S has contributed to the degradation of human rights in Palestine and the occupied territories in its dealings with the Israeli apartheid state, and this demo will ensure that the public are made aware of this.”
Londoners and indeed, the world will remember the year 2012 with lots of pleasant memories, but certainly not so for the security Leviathan, G4S who thoroughly messed up the plum contract they had won from the London 2012 organisers to provide security for the Games, but the crass ineptitude and gross lack of co-ordination which this gargantuan of a security company displayed almost imperilled the entire Games, save for the timely intervention of the military and the police.
Not a stranger to troubles, G4S is likely to make the headlines of most national dailies including the tabloids this week as Vigilance learnt demonstrators are planning to protest outside its London Headquarters against the company’s provision of expertise and security systems to Israeli prisons.
These prisons are believed to have housed thousands of Palestinian men, women and children detained without charge– many of whom have been tortured.
The spokesman for the demo organisers told Vigilance among some of the provisions made by G4S to the Israeli security apparatus include a perimeter defence system, command control centre for Ofer prison in occupied Palestine, and security systems for the al-Jalame interrogation centre in Israel.
Massoud Shadjareh, the chair of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, London ( IHRC), said: "Complicity in torture for profit will not go unnoticed. G4S has contributed to the degradation of human rights in Palestine and the occupied territories in its dealings with the Israeli apartheid state, and this demo will ensure that the public are made aware of this.”
According to Mr Shadjareh this demonstration is part of an ongoing campaign by IHRC and Inminds against Israeli apartheid.
The demonstration he said had been slated for:
Date: 12 October 2012 (Friday)
Time: 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Venue: G4S London Headquarters, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QT.
Nearest Train/ Tube: Victoria Tube Station.
